Consider reading together these two brief passages and reflecting on their significance for our lives, our church, and our world.
1. Genesis 4:1-16
- Reflect on Cain’s anger, and its ultimate expression in murder. What role does anger play in your life, in our world? How do you “master it” (Gen 4:7)?
- Discuss Cain’s consequences. Why do you think God prevents vengeance? How does this story affect you?
2. Genesis 6:5-8
- Discuss God’s second thoughts about creating humans. How do they relate to second thoughts you may have had?
- Reflect on the “Noah factor” in your own life. Who or what has reminded you that things aren’t quite as bad as they seem?
