Week 1: Day 7

Reflecting on Acts 1-4
By Richard Vinson

Take a few moments to review the readings and your own reflections from this week’s passage. Use the questions below to deepen the impact of Acts on your life and your world.
  • What question or questions have risen out of your study this week?
  • What surprised you this week? What new insight came out of your study?
  • How has your study of Acts 1-4 challenged the way you live?

Prayer: [Take time to express to God a word of gratitude, of honest struggle, or of delight.]

Consider reading together these two brief passages and reflecting on their significance for our lives, our church, and our world.

Acts 2:37-47
  • Reflect on the features of the early church’s life together. What stands out as main themes? What might you have expected to find that you don’t?
  • Suppose a modern Luke wrote a brief description of the life of your church. What would that description look like? How would it be the same as or different from the one in Acts?

Acts 4:1-22
  • In this episode, the early church faced resistance and opposition from members of their own city and religious community. What sorts of resistance does your church encounter? What sort of guidance does this story provide for you in how to respond?
  • Peter and John could stand before the council with the healed man beside them. What is the evidence that your church makes a positive difference in your community?
